What I Wore: Holiday Outfits Review

The Challenge
Happy New Year!  I thought I'd play catch-up on what I wore for Christmas festivities:  What I liked, didn't like, what I'd like to add for next year.

Sunday the 23rd.  For our singing ensemble at church we were to wear "Christmas colors."  I was influenced by Jodie from Jodie's Touch of Style who was influenced by the Elf movie.  She used yellow as part of her outfit, while I left it out and embraced the green with cream/beige.  I was really glad I did, as most of the other singers wore red.

Monday the 24th.  Christmas eve service and dinner with family.  I changed my mind about a dozen times on what to wear.  In the end, I was feeling more casual, as it seemed like I'd dressed up so much prior to Christmas eve, so wore nice/casual pants.  My daughters (Nos. 1, 2 and 4) dressed on the casual side, too, so we loosely coordinated with one another.  Most of the other women at church dressed to the nines.  Oh, well.

Christmas Day.  I chose my denim on denim outfit for comfort.  Looking at a couple of photos I was in, I wish I had chosen an actual color.  The cardigan helped, but I didn't wear it for long.

The Details
The 23rd:  Midi skirt, tank top, green cardigan (Target), belt & nude fishnet hose (not in photos, as I took them after-the-fact), eBay, French Kande necklace.  I didn't love my shoes with this combo, but tried on just about all of the shoes in my closet and disliked these the least!  Moral of the story, my dress shoes need updating!

The 24th.  Other than not being dressy, it was a lot of fun to wear.  Peplum military jacket (similar), red tank top (similar), Vince Camuto green jeans (similar), cabi Cinch belt, Sam Edelman booties, Snow Pine Design necklace.  I considered wearing my red pumps, but was tired of them.  I'd switch out the belt to brown in the future.

Christmas Day.  Old Navy boyfriend jeans, Jones NY denim shirt.  The pièce de résistance, my Darling Grandson, will stay with whatever outfit I wear forever and ever (or until he gets "too old" to hang with his "uncool" Grandma)!

The Takeaway
There is no reason why you or I would need to wear red and/or green for Christmas.  However, since I have red and green wardrobe items, it was a fun challenge to mix it up and get Christmasy looks from them.

What I would like for next year:  A red utility vest and a red denim shirt.   (I know, more red, but tossing a utility vest over about just anything is really appealing to me.)  For the denim shirt, I may buy a blue one and dye it.
