About Style Imitating ArtStyle Imitating Art challenges us to look to create an outfit using art as inspiration. In addition to colors, you may also want to look at textures, mood, style, genre. There are no "wrong" outfits, and you don't need to be literal.
The Inspiration
Today's inspiration is entitled Self Portrait, Yawning by Joseph Ducreux. In 1769, Ducreux was sent to Vienna in order to paint a miniature of Marie Antoinette before she left the city in 1770 and married Louis XVI of France.*

The CuratorSalazar from 14 Shades of Grey says, "Since it's April Fools' Day, I decided to pick something a bit humorous; plus, there are plenty of colors here to interpret in an outfit (red, tan, white, and charcoal gray). You can even mimic the pose too!" The challenge is hosted every two weeks by Salazar, Daenel at Living Outside the Stacks and me.
My Look
I went back and forth with this look. I could have been more literal with a cream top and red cardigan with this skirt, but I wasn't feeling it. Another choice was cream top, leopard cardigan and red skirt, but it felt like I'd "been there, done that." I decided to use the tan skirt and thought a snakeskin print would give the outfit an updated look. Next added were red pumps, but I didn't like the contrast, so decided to sub out the red for orange because it felt a little fresher, as well as, a less harsh contrast. The scarf became a wrap because the top has tiny cap sleeves and did the duty of arm camouflage. The play of leopard tone-on-tone scarf with the snakeskin top adds extra interest. A "yawn" pose was even struck for fun! (Oh, my! I just saw that I forgot earrings!)
