I saw this Moonlight Jacket in the Sundance Catalog and thought m-a-y-b-e. Wouldn't you know that there is a store in Southlake, TX (the entire area seems cooler and chic-er than the "one-horse town"
we are living in now)?! When I tried it on my dear, enabler, friend just loved it--um, and me, too! Now, to get back home and do some styling...
The Details
[As a side note, I needed a new phone as my 3-year-old Android seemed to be sluggish and not hold a charge for very long. When looking at the new phones in our local Verizon store, the sales rep pulled out a Google Pixel 3 which was supposed to have superior photo-taking capabilities (sales pitch?). My ears perked up at that. Generally, my blog photos are taken with my DSLR, BUT it's a Rebel T5, not T5i which means I cannot use a photo-taking remote. This photo shoot was done with my new camera. There is a bit of a learning curve, specifically with getting the phone/camera at the right height (you can see this is a little "off" and filling up the frame, or not). I'm thinking I may start venturing out on location again to use this. Trust me when I say there isn't much close by in the area of interesting photo shoots--mostly stucco and jungly looking foliage. When editing this post, it looks like if I want to do soft focus, I need to use it at the time I take the photo under protrait mode(?). Uh oh, the pictures are just too honest unfiltered!]
The Outfit
Initially, I was going to keep the base top plain and untextured as to not compete with the jacket. Then I decided to go "all in" with the texture and added more, including beaded necklace, distressed jeans, printed sandals. I couldn't be happier with the results! Sundance Catalog topper, baby doll Sophie Max top from Stein Mart last year (which has been on the blog numerous times as it is a great layering piece), Lucky Brand jeans snagged during a Loft Try On and Blogger Meetup in April, Franco Sarto sandals from Weekend Getaway Haul. Necklace and bracelet made by me.
The Takeaway
Don't be afraid to double, triple, quadruple texture in your outfits! The result is you shine, not a specific garment!
