Style Imitating Art (Roundup): The Siesta~Paul Gauguin

Welcome to the Style Imitating Art Roundup.  Style Imitating Art is hosted by me, Daenel~Living Outside the Stacks and Salazar~14 Shades of Grey.  Every two weeks, we select a piece of art.  After
that, it is up to us (and you!) to make an outfit inspired by the artwork.  Let's see what today's participants have selected!

About Style Imitating Art
In addition to colors, you may also want to look at textures, mood, style, genre or contrasts.  There are no "wrong" outfits, and you don't need to be literal.

The Curator
This week's inspiration piece was curated by me.  Fierce Fashion Blog is where I like to add some refinement to edgier looks.  At least that's my goal!

Inspiration Artwork

The Siesta~Paul Gauguin

This artwork was selected because I wanted to depict the lazy, dog-days of summer.

The Co-Hosts

Daenel was inspired by the mixed prints in the painting, so selected this light, breezy top to mimic the pattern play.  She looks so relaxed and ready to take on the rest of summer.  See her Style Imitating Art details.

Salazar selected a wearable summer outfit that has a print inspired by the wrap of the woman in the foreground and used the other colors in the painting with her pink top and orange sandals.  She used her mother's scarf to get the look of the wrapped hat.  See her The Siesta post for details.  I'm crushing on the print of these shorts!

Submissions
Kezzie~KezzieAG
Kezzie from KezzieAG is doing a wonderful, relaxed rendition of the painting.  She's added a flowing printed skirt reminiscent of the women in the painting.  She's also added pretty, embroidered summer blooms on her top and completed the look with a polka dot banded sun hat.  Her swing looks like a just the place to spend lazy summer afternoons.   I like that Kezzie also embraced the barefoot look.

Jodie used the hat as her inspiration and submitted Lesley's summer hat look.  Lesley is occasionally a guest on Jodie's blog.  She wrapped her scarf around her hat and really added some personality and interest with the oversized fabric flower in the back.

Mike
Mike is joining us with his summer reading shirt.  He thought his shirt was a good representation of the the blue/black color and prints on the women's skirts.  He was inspired to add his fedora, too.  Mike is also celebrating that his new home also has an outdoor patio space, so he is able to do some relaxing himself this summer.

My Look

I was inspired by the billowy look of clothing, pattern mixing, colors and hats.  See my entire Sundance Blue Dress~Style Imitating Art post.

Thank you to this edition's participants!  You all did an amazing job!
