About Style Imitating Art
Welcome to this edition of Style Imitating Art!

Style Imitating Art challenges us to look to create an outfit using art as inspiration.  In addition to colors, you may also want to look at textures, mood, style, genre.  There are no "wrong" outfits, and you don't need to be literal.

The Inspiration
The current artwork selection is a textile sample circa 1920.

The Curator
This selection was curated by Daenel from Living Outside the Stacks.  You don't already know this about me, but I'm a fabric junkie, so was delighted that she chose this swatch.

My Look

When Danael selected this, it was if she knew what was in my closet.  One of my favorite pairings is orange and burgundy, so that was the direction I took.

You may remember this Free People top from my recent Nordstrom Rack Try-On.  The (old) cabi cardigan was added along with my Eileen Fisher jeans.  I wanted to add some teal, but opted for this French Kande "forest mix" bead necklace and doubled it.  The pink bracelet is made by me, as is the leather one (the supplies were from my latest trip to the bead show, and the glitter skull--while it's a little hard to see--reminds me of Alexander McQueen designs).
