Style Imitating Art (Roundup): Cordia Médoc Ad Poster

Welcome to the Style Imitating Art Roundup!  Style Imitating Art is hosted by me, Daenel~Living Outside the Stacks and Salazar~14 Shades of Grey.  Every two weeks, we select a piece of art.  After
that, it is up to us (and you!) to make an outfit inspired by the artwork.  Let's see what today's participants have selected!

About Style Imitating Art
In addition to colors, you may also want to look at textures, mood, style, genre or contrasts.  There are no "wrong" outfits, and you don't need to be literal.

The Curator
This week's inspiration piece was curated by me.  Fierce Fashion Blog is where I like to add some refinement to edgier looks.  At least that's my goal!

Inspiration Artwork

Public Domain

This 1904 Cordia-Medoc advertising poster was selected because I love the riotous colors and the woman's delighted face.

The Co-Hosts

Daenel was inspired to use the neutral (border) palette and added color with her accessories.  Her new dog Bleu fits in with the theme perfectly.  Coincidence?  See her Style Imitating Art details.  (I came reallyclose to going this route!)

Doesn't Salazar look lovely in this leaf/feather maroon print dress she selected?  It's such a pretty color on her.  She then cleverly added a pearl cluster of grapes brooch.

Submissions
The way the grapes are displayed in the poster reminded Bev of this top.  She added even more print with her shoes.  This is a great interpretation, Bev.

Leslie is joining us with vibrant colors in her top and a fun paisley print in her pants.  And those shoes! 😍

We're delighted to have Mike is join us with his dark "Bordeaux" colored red shirt.

My Look

Ya'll know I'm all about color! That's why I selected the woman's yellow dress and the golden and purple-y/pink grapes as my inspiration.  What a difference a photo session makes.  I didn't care for the top with a straight-across look from Monday's post, so took a couple shots more with a partial front tuck and belt--yep, much better!

Thank you to this edition's participants!  Salazar, Daenel and I appreciate you taking the time to think about the artwork and send along your submissions.  You truly make this fun!

Join Us
Did you miss out on this inspiration piece?  Join us for our next challenge, which will be announced Monday, September 16.  The more the merrier!  You don't have to be literal.  As a matter of fact, some of the most interesting interpretations are not literal!  No need to have a blog to participate.  You may forward a photo or link to your Instagram #styleimitatingart.  You just need to like clothing!
