Welcome to this edition of Style Imitating Art!
Style Imitating Art is hosted biweekly by Daenel~Living Outside the Stacks, Salazar~14 Shades of Grey and me. Style Imitating Art challenges us to look to create an outfit using art as inspiration. In addition to colors, you may also want to look at textures, mood, style, genre. There are no "wrong" outfits, and you don't need to be literal.

My Look
I debated for a short time of whether to focus on the background or the monochromatic outfit. You can see which way I went. I really wanted to wear my lantern pants, but of all of the browns I have, it's funny how none of them were a match. These pants and top were the most similar. The scarf (a gift from my daughter) adds some texture, as well as, the colors yellow, green and blue. I really like the auburn hair in the portrait, so added my Brahmin handbag (Note: This color Brahmin is Toasted Almond and is only available at Dillard's--Dillard's is no longer a part of the Shopstyle Collective.) and shoes to bring in that feel.
The shirt is semi transparent, lightweight linen Chico's brand that was purchased on eBay. The pants were either from consignment or thrift and are brushed twill so are a little warmer. I sewed the left pocket shut because the white lining kept peeking out. It threw me off for photos on which hand would actually go into a pocket!
