Friday Favorites #40

Hello and happy first Friday of 2020!  It's always a mixed bag of emotions when all of the bustle of the holidays is behind us for another year.  Below are some highlights of the last couple of weeks.

1) ICE!  We went to the ICE! event at the Gaylord Texan hotel and convention center.  The area is kept at 9℉ (-13℃) and you are loaned parkas, or you can bring your own coat, as one of my girls did.  Unfortunately, we picked one of the busier times to go through, so it was quite congested.  (You buy your tickets for a certain time and show up at that time.)   I was surprised the display was colored--I thought it would be clear.  It was pretty amazing and brought the Charlie Brown Christmas story to life.

2) Brunch.  At The Ranch at Las Colinas.  This was the Sunday Natalie (in the middle, below) flew in from Orlando.  Jillian and Jacklyn picked Natalie up from the airport while Steve and I went to church.  We met up with them right afterward.

Steve and I really felt in holiday spirits spending time with the girls--it makes the Christmas season so joyful to be around your family.  We got a laugh that the three of us wore Dr. Martens.

3) Bar Cart.  You probably figured I'd breakdown and buy this!  Steve and I decided to make it a Christmas gift to ourselves.  I love the Boho-friendly style and the oval shape helps it stay out of the walkway getting in and out of the kitchen area.

Of course, we needed a cocktail shaker to go with it!

So, Steve could work his magic making chocolate martinis!

4) Tampa Visit.  The day after Christmas Steve and I had an early flight into Tampa.  Our hotel was within walking distance of this little guy's daycare.  We were delighted to see him--he wanted mommy, though!

We had a room with a pullout trundle bed, so the two big kids spent a couple of nights with us.  Darling Granddaughter declared "the [breakfast] buffet was excellent!"

5) New Year's Eve.  Steve and I didn't have plans (he caught a bad cold from our grandson), so I met up with Jillian and I did a tiny bit of shopping (this Starbucks is directly across from a mall that has a Nordstrom's and the traffic was b-a-c-k-ed up.  We did not go there!).  We had some mother/daughter time which I always cherish, before she had to head to her (2nd) job running food for a movie theater (she walks 7-10 miles a shift, with stairs!!!).

6) Follow-up.  My knee is still doing poorly.  The steroids didn't help.  The cortisone shot didn't help.  (I used a wheelchair at the airport.)  Yesterday, I made an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon for next week.  It has made me unable to do quite a few things this season, or do them slowly while in pain.  I am taking Tylenol with codeine, it helps somewhat. I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to getting this taken care of.
