About Style Imitating Art
Welcome to this edition of Style Imitating Art!
Style Imitating Art is hosted bi-weekly be Salazar~14 Shades of Grey, Daenel~Living Outside the Stacks and me. Style Imitating Art challenges us to look to creating an outfit using art as an inspiration. In addition to colors, you may also want to look at textures, mood, genre and style. There are no "wrong" outfits and you don't need to be literal.
The Inspiration

The Curator
This week's curator is Salazar from 14 Shades of Grey. She selected it because of the neutral palette, texture and ballet theme.
My Look
When I got this skirt last winter, I was all about it. It was quite warm for our FL weather, though. This season, I've not been about skirts or dresses at all. Having said that, I had to use it for this week's inspiration piece! Feeling like my styling ideas were stale, I turned to Pinterest. There were several looks that paired a leather jacket with this style of skirt, um, that I can do. Conveniently, I would call the jacket a bronze/brown which is more than perfect for our The Little Fourteen-Year-Old Dancer. For whatever reason, I thought teal would be the perfect pairing and put this Talbot's cardigan worn-as-a-top with it. The jacket sleeves were rolled up to reveal the teal cuff, but it appears that wasn't really necessary. The delicate bracelet was selected to reminisce how ballet dancers move so gracefully. Me and scarves. I can't not add one!
Surprise, surprise! Did you notice my shoes? Last year when everyone was wearing snakeskin booties, I bucked the trend. Instead, I got my white snakeskin Freebird boots. Love. Then that Chrissy looked so darned cute in her snakeskin pumps recently, I thought I'd hunt down a pair that I'd seen at Nordstrom Rack. Those shoes were gone. In the meantime, NR received loads of new shoes! I like these mules even better than the pumps I saw. They have a 1.5" block heel and I know they'll be easy to wear with a skirt or jeans.
