Hey, friends!  How is your Spring and self-quarantine going?  I ventured out to Joann's and the grocery store yesterday.  The grocery store was busier than usual and folks were stocking up.  I got everything I went in for, except fresh vegetables, but that was due to the store remodeling.  I haven't stocked up on a thing, yet, but plan to correct that in the next day or two...

The Challenge
I knew I wanted to put this outfit together when I saw Lisa's blog post recently that featured a Spring Outfit Guide:

The entire spectrum of corals to rusts are favorites of mine, so this outfit got my attention right away.  When I saw the sweatshirt, it reminded me of one I already had.  (Mine isn't fleece, but a lighter weight 100% cotton French terry.)

The Details
The blush pink sweatshirt wasn't being worn, because although I loved the color when it first came on the scene, it really washes me out.  Since I've been on a dyeing spree lately, anyway, I thought "why not?"  I went to the Rit dye website and thought I found the closest color to Lisa's sweatshirt pick.  It's called Candy Corn.  The recipe indicated two bottles of Tangerine and one bottle of Neon Yellow.  It seemed like so much dye for one piece, that I halved it.  You can see mine is really bright compared to the inspiration one.  Bright, as in I could go out onto an airfield and flag a plane in!  I guess I should have picked up on the brightness factor from the fact Neon Yellow was part of the recipe.  I'm a little disappointed about that, but I think I know how to fix it.

You can see I filled in with what I had on hand.  The jeans are close to the same wash and snakeskin mules are subbed for the white ones.   I even pulled out my peach-toned blusher.

The Takeaway
Yeah, I know I'm a bit foolhardy fearless when it comes to dyeing, but for about $8 I got a completely new sweatshirt that will actually get worn.  There's no harm in trying your hand at dyeing.  If you're scared, start with an old t-shirt or something from the thrift store to see how it goes.

Am I persuading you to try dyeing, yet?
