Welcome back, friends! Welcome Spring! I hope everyone is doing well and this shutdown hasn't effected your jobs. One of my girls and a sister in law got laid off. Steve works in the electric utility business, so he's been busier than ever trying to figure out how they're going to handle the government mandates. I heard a figure yesterday that New York (city? state?) has divorce inquiries up by 50 percent! #toomuchtogetherness
The Challenge
Finding a perfect top for yourself can sometimes be challenging. What makes this top "the best" is the cool, cotton fabric, roominess around the waist and the length of the sleeves. If you saw my post Friday, you know I recently completed this top (Vogue 1503). While I don't expect anyone to start sewing, peplum tops don't seem to be too hard to come by. I like them because they disguise my problem spot so well!
The Details
When I showed you the top Friday, it coordinated really well with my knock-around Old Navy shorts. I'm not sure what color you'd call them. Gold/brown? This top will also go with my off-white jeans and rust American Eagle Tomgirls. Not to mention, pink and blue accessories. I love a print that is so versatile! Since I wanted to wear my snakeskin booties, I opted for blue jeans. To round out with accessories, a handmade blue necklace, pink Michael Kors handbag and fringed earrings were added.
Below is also a photo of the side and back views of the top. The ruffle doesn't go all the way around and the back bodice is two pieces. Also, I couldn't resist showing you a couple of other necklaces that go well with the top, too.
If you notice, the top works equally as well out loose, as with a front tuck.
The Takeaway
- When looking at prints, think about how they might work with other things in your closet, including accessories.
- If you have a problem spot, consider what styles flatter you most and why.
- If you can sew a little bit, consider adding a peplum to a plain shirt like a thrifted one, as seen on my Friday Favorites #24 post.
