Style Imitating Art Inspiration: Mask

Public Domain

Hey, friends!  I hope you are enjoyed your July 4th weekend in your celebration of this great country of ours!

Welcome to this edition of Style Imitating Art.  The current art selection is a mask.

The Curator
This week's curator is me.  Because of the never ending tussle with the virus and an uptick in TX cases, we are currently required to wear face masks (again).  In an effort to be a little lighthearted with the whole thing, I decided to use an actual mask as our inspiration.  It is from about 1820-40 found in Alaska.  You can see more mask details at The Met website.

You may want to work with yellow/gold, orange/red, teal/green, black, gray, brown, or even wooden beads or clogs.  You could even be inspired by the shapes of the circle around the face, the eyebrows or the eyes or mouth.

What do you think you'll wear?  I'm so looking forward to your interpretations!
