"...When he has brought out all his own, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice.  A stranger they will not follow, but they will flee from him,  for they do not know the voice of strangers."  This figure of speech Jesus used with them, but they did not understand what he was saying to them.  John 10:4-6

About Style Imitating Art
Style Imitating Art is hosted bi-weekly by Daenel~Living Outside the Stacks, Salazar~14 Shades of Grey and me.  Style Imitating Art challenges us to look to create an outfit using art as an inspiration.  In addition to colors, you may also want to consider textures, style, mood, genre.  There are no "wrong" outfits, and you don't need to be literal.

The Inspiration
The current artwork is Mäda Primavesi by Gustav Klimt selected by Daenel, because she liked the girl's attitude and expression.

My Look
This is a rare time where I deviated as much from the colors as I have.  While I'm trying to build up my wardrobe to reflect the pink/purple background color of the artwork, it's not there yet.  So, I did the next best thing, tried to capture the essence and mood.

Utilizing floral, ruffles, a white skirt and attitude is my 21st century interpretation.  I selected my second, pink Cynthia Rowley, Simplicity 8636 top, the first blue one was was shown last week in my Ruffled Top 3 Ways post.   The fabric is thinner and more crisp than the gauze version.   The white skirt has a little secret going on.  Remember my camo skirt that I added a denim strip to at the side to give me more breathing room?  Well, I did the identical thing to this skirt.  You can get a glimpse of it in the small middle photo, below.  I found a chartreuse with white print home dec fabric from Hobby Lobby to add into the side.

The pink baroque pearls seemed like a nice combination of dressy and funky.  They are a standard 18-20" length.  To make them longer, I made a leather extender.  You could do this on your own, too, with leather lacing (you can find it at Walmart in the craft section).  Or, you can also buy faux leather necklaces for crafting and add to the length by using the clasps.  My Freebird shoes were selected, because I like that they basically "disappear" with their neutral color, yet add a little edge with the lacing.
