Styling a Neon Green Boho Dress 4 Ways

If I am not doing the works of my Father, then do not believe me; but if I do them, even though you do not believe me, believe the works, that you may know and understand that the Father is in me and I am in the Father."  Again they sought to arrest him, but he escaped from their hands.  John 10:37-39

Welcome, friends!  Last week turned into Jogger Week this week has turned into Gauze Week.  As ya'll know, I'm not a dress person!   However, some of my blogging friends have been influencing me, plus, there are lots of nice dresses out there.  Jess's Styling a Spring Sleeveless Dress for Fall, really got me last week causing me to, once again, look for an elusive style-for-me dress.

Enter this Free People gauze one.  I had stalked seen it before on clearance at Belk's and "wasn't sure."  Last week, I ordered the pink one and didn't love it.  Then, I went on a deep dive for this style and found out the green (which looked horrible on the website, shown above) was actually this awesome neon green.  For the quick color turnaround, I saw that our local Belk's had one green one left in stock--so, I swapped them out.  The rest is history!  Now, to have styling fun!

Free People Maya Dress | Dr. Marten Ryker Sandals | Patricia Nash handbag | Johnny Was scarf | Sundance Scenic Route necklace

1) Pearls and Leather.  This is my more "formal" look, hahaha!  I really like that the dress hangs pretty straight, which is my preference.   I added funkiness with my Doc Martens, which are almost a prerequisite with FP clothing.  Since bookending works well, especially now that my hair is silver, the dark leather lace of the pearl necklace coordinates with my sandals nicely.  I was going for a matching look, so I added my gold earrings and bracelet.  The earrings are quite visually substantial, (they're the butterfly ones that you've seen several times) but lightweight and have fluttered sideways so you can't see them that well in this photo.  I've got my Patricia Nash satchel again.  This time, I tied my Johnny Was scarf around the handle to pick up the bright green.

2) All the Color.  I keep thinking this necklace is destined to be passed along, but then it comes out to play in the best possible way.  Bouncing off all of that color, leather turquoise earrings were added and even though I never got the heishi bead bracelets, these (old) wire and bead bracelets do the colorful job just fine.  The teal handbag seemed like the perfect fun pop.

Urban Outfitters duster | Naturalizer booties

3) Adding a Duster.  This is a style steal from Jess.  While I don't think this duster works that well with the dress (it's really soft and robe-like--I have my eye on another one on Poshmark), I had fun wearing my Johnny Was scarf with it that combines both the green and rust colors.   I love the booties with this dress, too, as they add to the Boho look.

Target hat | Me Made necklace | Thrifted handbag

4) With a Felt Hat.  This look totally surprised me.  After I had swapped out the dress on Monday, I did some trial runs with the above looks.  This was put together at the last minute before I was going to take photos.  While the hat might be kind of wintery since it's felt, I don't think the fashion police will haul me away when I combine it with gauze.  I love this look and would wear it in a hot (or cool) second!

I hope I did my dress-lovin' girls proud!  I'm looking forward to wearing this as much as it is realistic while the weather is still agreeable.  After we officially own our new home, I plan to be out more than usual shopping for flooring, fabrics, furniture--all the fun "f's"!

Tip:  If you really like something you're not sure is in your style wheelhouse, it pays to try, or keep trying, till you find something that does suit you.
