The Challenge
I guess whenever we're attracted to something printed, a big question mark appears in our brains as to what we could pair with the print that would give it a different look or feel, so it doesn't look like we're wearing the same outfit over and over.
With the pieces I've used here, these looks could be divided into: 1) Doing errands; 2) Meet with friends or a casual meeting 3) Going out.
The Details
The look starts with J. Jill linen pants that I fell in love with this spring. I knew I already had several of the colors in my wardrobe, so it was a matter of coming home and see what would work with them. Let's take a look:
** Errand day consists of a simple green tee-top, pink bamboo handbag and a bold necklace. ** Friends day switches out to a pink tank top and olive topper, green stone necklace. ** Night out uses a coordinating beige tank with berry colored cardigan and stone/tassel necklace. The shoes could have been swapped out as well, a colored pair of sandals would be fun.The Takeaway
Before buying the impulse, printed clothing item, make a mental note of what else you have in your closet that would go with it. (These crops could also be worn with different greens, pinks or beiges.) Switching out accessories makes a difference in the presentation of outfits and they can be gotten all over the budget spectrum.

Love it! And that cute bag!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Nancy!
DeleteI love all three 3 looks! Those pants are so pretty and the way you added bold colors on top really showcase how lovely they are! And cheers for linen crops - perfect for the hot, humid weather. Great advice too when considering a fun print - it's no fun wearing the same printed pants the same way over, and over again!
ReplyDeleteSee you soon friend!

Thank you and I know! They have been comfortable running around town and feel more dressed up.
Deletei can see why you fell in love with these pants. In fact, Nancy, my stepmom (the 70+ model on my blog) has a pair from JJill kinda like them. They just work with everything!!

They must have been popular this year. ;)
DeleteGreat pants! But those shoes! Absolutely love!
ReplyDeleteWe must have similar taste, as I frequently think that about your shoes!
DeleteThis is a great post Kim! I love that you used the "rule of 3"! We actually talked about this in one of my posts a month or so ago, as well! It's such a clever way to shop - saving you from making unwise purchases that end up just sitting in your closet because you really have nothing to wear them with. And you've put together really wonderful looks! I love your use of color! Fabulous!

I saw you mentioned "rule of 3"... I will be over to delve deeper into your posts!
DeleteLove those pants and great ways to style them for various occasions. I have several floral pants I can wear with different colour tops. I'm loving florals!
