The ChallengeI'm joining The Blended Blog prompt today on Show Us Something You Wear That Gets Tons of
Compliments. I was a bit stumped with this challenge because I don't often get anything singled out, but a general "you always look so nice" kind of thing. Then I remembered this top, which always seems to get comments and compliments when I'm out and about.
The Details
This is another one of those modifications that sounds a little crazy. When I found this "top" at the thrift store it was a dress. A junior-sized dress, which meant the sleeves were too tight. Since this particular color is hard to find, and I love, I decided to buy it anyway and see if I could make some adjustments. The hem had a border print which you can see on the partial tuck and also around the hem of the sleeves. What I did was, cut the sleeves off at the shoulder, then cut them open down the middle, cut off the bottom of the dress and used a little over 1" strip from that to add width to the sleeve. Then the sleeve was reattached (the armhole was also expanded slightly) and, of course, re-hemmed the bottom. Today, I was in the mood to pair it with dark jeans, but it goes just as well with white ones. It must be all of the neckline detail to which people respond. P.S. I generally do wear a necklace with this shirt, but decided to let the top have all the attention for this post.
