Friday Favorites #9

Hello and happy Friday!  This week has been quite a week, some busy, some slow, some extra stressful.  No happy medium!  Let's take a closer look.

Hot Water Heater Replaced
There's no excitement like getting home repairs, said no one ever!  Nevertheless, the hot water was not working on the end of the house with the master bedroom for about a week.  To get a shower I went upstairs to the side of the house that had a working water heater.  Inconvenient for my bad knee, but livable.  Had it been July/August, it likely it would not have mattered since the water is pretty warm anyway.   The bath supplies up there are basic, so when the hot water returned, I was able to more easily indulge in my favorite bath and body products:  Jo Malone Grapefruit shower gel and Blackberry & Bay bath/body oil.

New Lawn Chair
You'd think this is something I'd already have.  I went ahead and ordered one, figuring since at this point I'm living alone and not answering to anyone and can live a Bohemian lifestyle if I choose, I might as well sit outside to get a little color on my legs and do some reading.  I got the least expensive folding chair, since our goal is to be moving sooner or later.

Recent Purchases
Now that no-spend April is over (I didn't waste any time, did I?), I ordered, but have not yet received, these Lucky Brand camo pants and blush platform sandals.  I had ordered a pair of cropped camo pants last spring, decided I didn't really need them, so they were returned.  What was I thinking?  I'm not sure I'll love the sandals, as sometimes flatforms soles can be hard, we'll see.

New Coffee Drink "Recipe"
At the top of the post I'm trying a new-to-me combo from my girl Lisa at Coast to Coast (Lisa, if you're reading this, was it okay that I referred to you as "my girl?" 😊) who shared this recipe awhile back.  For both a caffeine and nutrition "kick," at Starbucks order a double shot of espresso over ice in a vente cup, then add your own caramel protein shake and stir.   The shake contains 30 grams of protein and 160 calories.   I packed these the day my daughter and I went to Animal Kingdom.  I honestly didn't think I'd be a fan, since I don't like things that are overly sweet (it wasn't), but I was very happy with it and it will likely be on repeat as a summer pick me up.  My daughter thought it was too protein-tasting for her, but not bad.  I didn't notice that a bit.
Available at my local Walmart or order from Target

Visit to Animal Kingdom
If you follow me on Instagram, you know that Tuesday my daughter and I visited Animal Kingdom.  She's only got a couple of weeks left with her internship (her job is in food service in Tomorrowland).  This is the first time I've ever been there.  What can I say?  The pull is always toward Magic Kingdom.  I enjoyed it SO much!  The landscape and entire setup were right up my alley, very nature oriented.  The crowd wasn't nearly as bad, either.  Before I even got into the park I purchased this baseball cap--I never wear these, but couldn't resist the style.  We went to another character lunch at 3 p.m. and were feeling pretty bedraggled by then, but I enjoyed this set of characters more than the last one we attended--I liked the food choices better, too.
Funny story:  While we were standing in line for one of the attractions, under a breezy breezeway, I was thinking I was glad the weather was so comfortable.  My daughter leaned over and told me she'd overheard someone say they were glad they didn't live in FL because it was too hot--Ah hahaha!
Interesting fact:  The people that are in the character costumes have to audition to get the part.  They are first sorted out by height.  Mickey Mouse is generally a female, Goofy and Tigger are males.

Thanks so much for joining this Friday recap!  See you next week!
