About Style Imitating Art
Welcome to this edition of Style Imitating Art!

Style Imitating Art is hosted biweekly by Daenel~Living Outside the Stacks, Salazar~14 Shades of Grey and me.  Style Imitating Art challenges us to create an outfit using art as inspiration.  In addition to colors, you may also want to look at textures, mood, style, genre.  There are no "wrong" outfits and you don't need to be literal.

The Inspiration

Fair Trade
The Curator
This selection was curated by me, because, as per usual, I was looking for one thing and stumbled on another.  As in looking for a piece of textile, but finding textile art.  I'm in!  Further info can be found at Wikiart.

My Look
Normally, I don't go looking to buy anything new for these themes.  This time I wanted to and actually did.  Let me explain.  My wardrobe is woefully short on purple and I'd really like to find more of it, I happened to find a pair of jeans in the artwork color at the thrift store (Hey, Jodie!  There's a small "boutique" thrift store really nearby, but they don't have a whole lot.)  They were on the tight side, so I passed on them.  Next, I really like all of the heart patterned t-shirts and sweaters many of you ladies have featured--so--I looked on eBay and found a long-sleeved blouse with hearts in colors similar to the artwork.  I bought it!  It wasn't received till after my photo shoot, so I'll have to feature it within the next couple of weeks.

How can I "boo hoo," though, when I have this fabulous textured skirt in a rich berry color?  Looking to pile on since the artwork is full of visual texture, I added my waffle weave blouse and chunky knit cardigan.  Still not done, well, you can see everything that was added!  The only thing without texture is my tights.

In the mirror I preferred the floral Dr. Martens (found on Poshmark) to my white snakeskin Freebirds, but in the photo, I'm not so sure.  My preference would have been a different bootie, but my brown ones are too light in color and I wanted to keep a minimal heel because of, well, you know, the bad knee.  Note to self:  Purchase a pair of dark brown booties.  The bracelets are holding their own with the look, as well.  I added my triangle earrings since they are close-ish to a heart shape.  As an extra bonus, I thought it would be a good day to stand in front of this textured green leaf wall (below).

What do you think about all of this texture?  I know it would make some people crazy, such as my oldest daughter!
