Style Imitating Art (Round Up)~ Damunt de tu només les flors by Carles Delclaux Is.

Welcome to the Style Imitating Art Roundup!  Style Imitating Art is hosted by me, Daenel~Living Outside the Stacks and Salazar~14 Shades of Grey.  Every two weeks, we select a piece of art.  After that, it is up to us (and you!) to make an outfit inspired by the artwork.  Let's see what today's participants have selected!

About Style Imitating Art
In addition to colors, you may also want to look at textures, mood, style, genre or contrasts.  There are no "wrong" outfits, and you don't need to be literal.

The Curator
This week's inspiration piece was curated by me.  Fierce Fashion Blog is where I like to add some refinement to edgier looks.  At least that's my goal!

Inspiration Artwork

Fair Use

The current art selection is fiber art entitled Damunt de tu només les flors by Carles Delclaux Is.

The Co-Hosts

Salazar pulled rich colored pants, a navy top and added an amazing rainbow neck buff.  (A buff is a lightweight tube to add extra warmth frequently used during outdoor sports.)  The buff couldn't be more perfect for adding the rainbow of colors that are in the artwork.  She can almost always make use of her collection of brooches, which I really enjoy.  See Salazar's entire post.

Daenel used the purple background as inspiration for this ruffled trimmed dress.  The hemline also emulates the curves of the woman in the artwork.  The print of the dress also adds a lot of visual texture.   I really like the addition of Daenel's biker boots and cardigan, they "toughen up" the sweet ruffle.   See Daneal's entire post.

Kezzie~KezzieAG

Unfortunately, Kezzie was not feeling well when she put this outfit together.  She looks great, though.  Kezzie took her inspiration from the strip of black with the variety of colors in it.  Her pants are embroidered joggers found 2nd hand (!) and her boots are purple.  Are you able to tell her brooch is made from colorful pencil ends?  See Kezzie's full post.

Leslie used "my $12 Walmart cowl neck sweater dress for the foundation of my interpretation.  Had planned to just add a scarf, and this paisley one from Loft Outlet kind of replicated the colors and some of the shapes in the art.  Then saw my H&M fringed boucle jacket just hanging in the closet longing to be noticed and decided it was the perfect finishing touch.   The print of my jacket kind of mimics the plaid swatches."  I'm glad the purple resonated with everyone and that Leslie (surprisingly) was the only one who added plaid.

I'm delighted that everyone embraced the texture, too!
