Style Imitating Art is hosted bi-weekly by Daenel~Living Outside the Stacks, Salazar~14 Shades of Grey and me. Style Imitating Art challenges us to look to create an outfit using art as an inspiration. In addition to colors, you may also want to consider textures, style, mood, genre. There are no "wrong" outfits, and you don't need to be literal.
The Inspiration
The current artwork selection a 19th century Chinese snuff bottle.
The Curator
This selection was curated by Daenel at Living Outside the Stacks. She chose it because she wanted to select something different. If you ask me, many of Daenel's selections have a unique spin.
My Look
Originally, I was a bit stumped as I don't wear black (or optic white). I was planning on doing my version of black and white, which would have been cream and burgundy. I was looking for this top for another purpose and realized it could be put into service (ironically, the last time it got worn was for Daenel's SIA pick). My white Kut from the Kloth jeans were added. They were snug this day--I'm not sure if it was from just being washed or Christmas overindulgence, or both! Fortunately, the top has orange embroidery, so the coral necklace plays really nicely with it. My bracelet is a gold beaded necklace that was wrapped around my wrist several times.
