The Challenge
Hey, friends!  This challenge started sometime last year when this fox knit fabric was purchased, on a whim, when I was in JoAnn's getting something else.  At the time I didn't have a plan for it, but had seen a jacket pattern online that looked interesting.  Being stuck at home, I decided to see what fabric I had stashed away in boxes and this turned up.  A jacket didn't seem like the right fit at this point, as I felt I could use more long-sleeved knit shirts.  Then, my friend Lisa @ Coast to Coast modeled a Free People babydoll top (it's on clearance in the widget).  That clinched the idea for me.

One problem I had, though, was for this pattern (New Look 6533), there wasn't enough fabric.  No worries, there's a JoAnn's a few minutes away, so I went there intending to get a coordinating fabric and make it a print mix.  Weird coincidence, they had more of this fox fabric!  I don't remember what I spent previously, my best guess is that it cost about $14 for all of the fabric.  There was a little bit of tweaking (which I expected) getting the fullness adjusted and lining up the foxes at the horizontal seam line.

The Details
I decided to go ahead and pair it with white jeans since the fox design had some white in it.  After purchasing these boots, I wanted a white-something necklace and found this in a gift shop in town.  It has copper hardware, so I added earrings and bracelets in rose gold.  (Random:  My hair looks red because I'm standing under a rust-colored awning.)

The Takeaway
For sewing:  1) Keep your eyes open to find inspiration wherever you may look/be. 2) Double check if you don't have enough fabric to see if there is more, even if you are across the country! 3) Be willing to change plans.

With a full top, it's wise to go with a more slender bottom--I wished I would have worn my white skinny jeans--these aren't skinny, but aren't too bad.

Not a necessity, but it's true when "they" say pants and shoes in the same color don't stop they eye, therefore, elongates the leg.

I'm pretty happy with this look.  It's fun, comfortable and certainly doesn't seem too "precious" to wear for knock-around day-to-day errands or chores.

(I like to put tags in handmade clothing, so when I'm putting it on and it's over my head I can tell the front from the back!)
