Welcome to the Style Imitating Art Roundup!  Style Imitating Art is hosted by me, Daenel~Living Outside the Stacks and Salazar~14 Shades of Grey.  Every two weeks, we select a piece of art.  After that, it is up to us (and you!) to make an outfit inspired by the artwork.  Let's see what today's participants have selected!

About Style Imitating Art
In addition to colors, you may also want to look at textures, mood, style, genre or contrasts.  There are no "wrong" outfits, and you don't need to be literal.

The Curator
This week's inspiration piece was curated by me, via our friend Mike of Postcard Purposes.  Fierce Fashion Blog is where I like to add some refinement to edgier looks.  At least that's my goal!

Inspiration Artwork
Fair Use

The current art selection, Carolina Morning, is a New Realism painting by Edward Hopper.

The Co-Hosts

I love that Salazar submitted two outfits.  Like me, she went for the "obvious" red dress, but on another note, pulled the softness of the blowing grasses and sky, adding red with her shoes.  Great addition of her hat, too!  Nice job, Salazar!  See Salazar's sweater and jeans post.

Daenel always seems to have her own unique interpretation, which we love!  She took inspiration from the sidewalk and the grasses and added a red pop with her earrings.  See Daneal's entire post.

Submissions
If you didn't already know, this is Mike who suggested our current artwork.   Mike "was watching a lecture on painting ... and one of my favorite artists was mentioned; Edward Hopper. I immediately thought of his painting, 'Carolina Morning', which, given our current situation (physical distancing), would be perfect for an SIA challenge. The image itself looks isolating but seems serene at the same time. There’s a lot of color to work with here too."  I couldn't agree more!

This is a beautiful view from Nancy's beloved holiday destination in England.  It perfectly captures the feeling, along with the coloring, of our artwork.

Charlotte is wearing color blocks (which emulate the painting style so well) of red from the dress and gray from the sidewalk.

My Look
My look, above, combines varying shades of red with a "blue sky" stand in.  For more details see my All the Red post.

Thank you to all of our friends who joined us this week for Style Imitating Art.  We really appreciate your well-thought-out and styled interpretations and look forward to what you might come up with next time!

Join Us
Did you miss out on this inspiration piece?  Join us for our next challenge, which will be announced Monday, April 27.  The more the merrier!  You don't have to be literal.  As a matter of fact, some of the most interesting interpretations are not literal!  No need to have a blog to participate.  You may forward a photo or link to your Instagram #styleimitatingart.  You just need to like clothing!
