Welcome to this edition of Style Imitating Art!
Style Imitating Art is hosted bi-weekly be Salazar~14 Shades of Grey, Daenel~Living Outside the Stacks and me. Style Imitating Art challenges us to look to creating an outfit using art as an inspiration. In addition to colors, you may also want to look at textures, mood, genre and style. There are no "wrong" outfits and you don't need to be literal.

My Look
I was shooting for green and purple with this look. Green I have lots of, purple, not so much. Rummaging around my closet, camo seemed like a good way to go because the variation of the print resembles the impressionistic style:
Because they painted outside, the Impressionists had less time to mix colour and painted quickly to keep up with the ever-changing daylight. This resulted in work with loose brushwork that looked un-finished or messy compared to the accepted work of the time." (source)While I didn't intend to do another monochromatic look, like my All the Red post, I really liked the raw hem of the green shirt, another "unfinished" detail. The shirt is Free People that hasn't been on the blog before. It was purchased this past fall for my short-lived Pier 1 job. The camo skirt has been featured a few times. A reference to purple was added with faux stone earrings and necklace, along with lipstick and sandals. These blooming flowers were such a bonus! If you know what kind of plant/flowers these are, please leave a note in the comments, because a) I'm new in town and b) I'm not a plant person.
