Friday Favorites #61

For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.  When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.  Col. 3:3-4

Welcome to this week's Friday Favorites!  Where did the time go?  I can hardly believe it's already that time of the week.  We didn't do anything to celebrate Memorial Day on Monday, but one of our girls came over Saturday and we did carryout and a movie.  Considering how boring low-key it's been around here, I have several things to share.  Starting with:

1) Lipstick.  Here's a look at my new lipstick.  Makeup colors are yet another thing being evaluated in my silver hair journey.  Although I haven't worn red lip color in decades, I kept seeing it was a great choice with gray hair, so thought I'd give it a try and found this at Target.  Nothing like doing a search on your phone right before walking into the store--"best drugstore lipsticks"!  Maybelline kept popping up, so that's what I went with.  I almost never buy drugstore makeup, because trying a sample first at a department store works so much better.  I can't believe how happy I am with it.  The satin color is Red Revival #645 and leans more toward a pink-red than a Christmas red.  I gotta tell ya, I've worn it out a couple of times and feel all kinds of glam wearing it!

2) Tie Dye Fabric.  My poor pooch is in need of a haircut, much like the rest of the country!  While working on my latest sewing project, she decided to curl up on the pieces I set aside.  (Yes, these are real pattern pieces waiting to be sewn.) This tie dye fabric will be featured in my latest make, soon!

3) Bandana.  In spite of what you just read in the previous paragraph, I've come to the conclusion that I don't love tie dye.  On me.  Gasp, I know!  BUT, while I was in Joann's the other day, I came across, and bought, a tie dye bandana.  Isn't it a great idea for someone who may not love tie dye, but wants to add a little bit of it to an outfit--like on a handbag handle?

4) TV/Movie/Books.  TV:  A couple of Friday Favorites's ago, I mentioned I had read Little Fires Everywhere and looked forward to investigating the series on Hulu.  I gotta tell ya, I got two episodes in and didn't care for it.  Without giving you spoilers, some things got changed from the book that didn't work for me.

Movie:  I highly recommend the movie "An Inspector Calls" on Amazon Prime.  It's a British murder mystery and is very intriguing.  Steve and I watched it on a whim and we both liked it.

Books:  My daughter loaned me the first three of five in the C.B. Strike series by Robert Galbraith (a.k.a J. K. Rowlings).  I'm midway through book three.  These are also murder mysteries and each book has gotten grizzlier.  They are good, though.  If you have Cinemax, you can watch the first three books made into two- or three-part movies.

5) Smoothie cleanse.  I had mentioned a few weeks ago that I had put on some weight and it was really getting to me.  I did the 10-Day Green Smoothing Cleanse, again.  (See my previous Review with Before and After photos.)  This time I lost approx. 8 lbs.  (My final weigh in was this a.m., so didn't have the "official" weight when this post went live.)  Even though I did better previously, I'm loving the ease with which my belt is going on and zippers are going up!   I'm attributing not doing as well to being more sedentary this time around.  The reason for that is, I'm still having problems with my knee.  Groan.  While it's better than it was before the arthroscopic surgery, it's still not that great and for the most part, I feel like I'm housebound.  Going to the grocery store is a struggle.  My next appointment is in a little over a week and I'm going to talk to my doctor about knee replacement surgery.  He said he'd replace my right knee anytime because there is no cartilage there, but my left one is giving me the most trouble.  I'm thinking to try to schedule the left one ASAP and if that turns out well, schedule the right one, too.

That's it for this week!  We have gorgeous weather on the horizon (pun intended)!  No other sewing projects are lined up, although, of course, I have a few brewing in my brain.  A couple of sewing bloggers are hosting a "Cocktails & Kaftan" summer series that I'm thinking about joining.  Ya'll have a great weekend and I'll see you on Monday--June 1st!
