The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.  He will not always chide, nor will he keep his anger forever.  He does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities.  Ps. 103:8-10

About Style Imitating Art
Style Imitating Art is hosted bi-weekly by Daenel~Living Outside the Stacks, Salazar~14 Shades of Grey and me.  Style Imitating Art challenges us to look to create an outfit using art as an inspiration.  In addition to colors, you may also want to consider textures, style, mood, genre.  There are no "wrong" outfits, and you don't need to be literal.

The Inspiration
The current artwork is Anne Ryan's Number 453 selected by Daenel because, she wanted to have "something soothing after the challenges of the past few weeks."

My Look
The various color combinations of our current artwork were fun to ponder.  One could select khaki and navy or a rich mustard.  Using denim was extremely temping.  In the end, the entire softness theme was embraced.

I discovered some time ago, and I have to keep reminding myself, that I look best in mid-range colors (not too light or too dark), especially near my face.  When I remember to do that, you see me first and the outfit second, otherwise, you see the outfit first.  And, I really think that worked in my favor for this outfit.

Getting on my soapbox (yet, again), dressing for themes is an excellent way to encourage trying combinations you may not necessarily put together.  Such was the case with our current artwork.  The first piece that was selected was the Free People top.  I knew I wanted to add pink and saw this kimono cardigan hanging nearby in the closet.  Happily, they worked together with both color and style.  Debating on bottoms:  blue or white jeans or skirt, khakis?  Staying within the same color family felt the most serene to me, so the rust pants were selected, bonus that they are also soft.  Finished off with non-attention seeking beads, shoes and brass accessories.  Ahh.  Even gentler makeup colors were used.  The elements that keep this from going "soft south," for my style, are the textures in the shirt, stones and pendant, the dark brass accents and the half tuck leaving a defined angle, as well as, the seaming of the pants.
