Handkerchief Maxi Skirt~Three Ways

As a father shows compassion to his children, so the LORD shoes compassion to those who fear him.  For he knows our frame; he remembers that we are dust.  Psalms 103:13-14

You know that moment when something catches your eye and you have that internal conversation with yourself that goes something like this:
"ooo that skirt has my perfect colors in it what size is it (pulling it out) it may fit (hold it up to waist) where is a mirror is there a mirror around here oh there's a mirror (walk over to mirror) hmm is it too long what are all these colors do i like the handkerchief hem there's a lot of brown brown doesn't look good with my hair anymore i told myself no more brown it's only $5 will i get $5 use out of it this summer i really wanted to concentrate on [a] red [skirt]"

As you may have guessed, that's exactly how it went with this skirt!  It's another thrift store find from last weekend.  I almost didn't buy it!  I've already worn it and decided to style it three ways, today.

Isadora skirt (similar) | top (similar) | cabi cardigan (similar) | Free Bird shoes (similar

The first look would take you to lunch, brunch or church (if your church is open).  It's shown with my much-loved beige lace top and cabi cardigan for A/C.

T-shirt (similar) | Isadora skirt (similar) | Paul Green sandals (similar) | French Kande necklace

This casual look would take you to run out to get coffee or a stroll through downtown on the weekend.  It would work great with with sneakers, too.  There is some gray in the print, which I don't wear, but, I wanted to give it a try.  Where did I get the gray t-shirt?  It's my U of M one turned inside out!  Haha!

belt loop/sagging sash

For my first photo shoot trial, the sash sagged down and looked strange (it's sewed to the sides of the skirt).  I tried removing the sash, which entailed cutting it off, but the wide waistband didn't look right, so I added it back.  I was going to try to pin it, but didn't want to fuss with a pin, so made a belt loop and sewed it front and center to keep the sash in place.  One end is put through in one direction, then the other end in the opposite direction, then a knot/bow was tied over the top of the belt loop.

Chico's top (similar) | Isadora skirt (similar) | Dr. Marten Ryker sandals

Lastly, with a lightweight, linen brown long sleeve top.  It's a smidgen hot to wear long sleeves without being in air conditioning, but I like the look.  The skirt would also play nicely with red, if I had more of it!

Thanks for joining me today!  I was fearful these photos wouldn't get taken as my knee took a turn for the worse this weekend and I didn't think I'd make it further than hobbling around the apartment.  My meds were switched a month ago which was helping quite a lot, I'm not sure why I had the sudden downturn.
