So you will walk in the way of the good and keep to the paths of the righteous.  For the upright will inhabit the land, and those with integrity will remain in it, but the wicked will be cut off from the land, and the treacherous will be rooted out of it.  Proverbs 2:20-22

About Style Imitating Art
Style Imitating Art is hosted bi-weekly by Daenel~Living Outside the Stacks, Salazar~14 Shades of Grey and me.  Style Imitating Art challenges us to look to create an outfit using art as an inspiration.  In addition to colors, you may also want to consider textures, style, mood, genre.  There are no "wrong" outfits, and you don't need to be literal.

The Inspiration
The current artwork is selected by Daenel "because the color is just intense and fabulous.  I know it's just a single color, but there's the opportunity for mixing, matching, clashing, texture imitation, etc."

My Look
Once, again, I had to deviate from the artwork color-wise.  Since I only have one purple, summery cardigan, I went with "my" purple which is a rich burgundy.  Add to that, spying the gold lining of the slippers, my Midas joggers made another showing.

I didn't realize this Johnny Was top has never officially made it to the blog, although I mentioned buying it months before I moved to TX, while visiting, at Neiman Marcus Last Call.  The embroidery in it has the same color as the joggers.  While it isn't quilting, the embroidery is still embellished stitching.

When the weather cools off (and especially if it's rainy), I like pulling out my Doc Martens (pretty much the polar opposite of the slippers).  The burgundy color goes so well with lots of my clothing items.  When I lived in FL these seemed super edgy, because there is so little commitment to footwear-ha!  Here, they are just a day-in-the-life.  I even gave you an up-close of my tarnished jewelry.  I tell myself it looks either needs to be replaced or painted over, I guess.  It is supposed to be matte, though, not shiny.

Join Us
...There's still time!  Please consider joining us, the more the merrier!  You don't have to be literal.  As a matter of fact, some of the most interesting interpretations are not literal!  Send a picture of your Style Imitating Art inspired outfit to Daenel at so she receives it by Tuesday, November 3--that's tomorrow!  She will share the roundup submissions on her blog on Wednesday, November 4.
