Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord.  Fathers, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged.  Bondservants, obey in everything those who are your earthly masters, not by way of eye-service, as people-pleasers, but with sincerity of heart, fearing the Lord.  Col. 3:20-22

Happy mid-week, friends!  I hope your world is peaceful and sunshiny, today!

The Challenge
There are a few things that came into play putting this outfit together.  Monica, Jersey Girl, Texan Heart, is hosting a tropical theme tomorrow and it's fun to play along, because it gives me some direction (which is helpful!) a-n-d, the lovely Jess, Elegantly Dressed and Stylish, recently did print mixing with her camo skirt.  Keeping with my "never-leave-well-enough-alone" attitude, a little clothes chopping was involved, as well!

The Details
It's a delight to showcase this top on the blog once again.  It's Johnny Was and one of my favorites, purchased on clearance last year and I could have sized down, but this was the only one left.

The.  Camo.  Skirt.  It's been on the blog more often than it gets worn in real life.  At the time of purchase it justfit, so now, it's a bit, a-hem, snug.  After I saw Jess wear her camo skirt, I considered getting a new one, but didn't want to spend the money if I wasn't wanting to reach for the one I already had.  To combat the snugness, a denim "tuxedo stripe" was recently added to give me a few inches of breathing room and perhaps nudge me into resurrecting it as a viable piece.  Another problem with it is it's on the short side--not for my comfort level, but for the proportions of an outfit.  I'm considering taking the hem out and leaving it frayed to get a little extra length.  I like denim that way, but not sure I'll love it with camo.  Harrumph.  Way too much bandwidth used up on it already!

Back to the outfit.  The tropical print and camo play so nicely together.  I'll bet you've spied the leopard print belt, as well.  I debated on shoes, but ended up liking how the dark Docs both grounded and added to the funky vibe of the look.  While necklaces get lost on the busy background, I'm lost if I'm not wearing one!

The Options
Although, the top is long-sleeved, it's very lightweight cotton so could be worn in the summer if it's not blazing hot, or in A/C.  Instead of a camo skirt, denim, white, olive, turquoise or pink shortsskirts or pants could be swapped in.  It's not necessary to be limited with a colorful print if you keep in mind the base colors that you already own.
