About Style Imitating Art
Welcome to this edition of Style Imitating Art!

Style Imitating Art challenges us to look to create an outfit using art as inspiration.  In addition to colors, you may also want to look at textures, mood, style, genre.  There are no "wrong" outfits, and you don't need to be literal.

The Inspiration
The current artwork selection is a Purple Flower photograph taken by Daenel Vaughn-Tucker.  (Is she talented, or what?!)

The Curator
This selection was curated by Daenel from Living Outside the Stacks.  She chose this color to invoke springtime.  There are so many colors and textures from which to choose.

My Look

When Danael selected this photo, I was initially at a bit of a loss.  When I started pulling things out of my closet, it was surprising how many things would work.  My two pairs of white cropped jeans were such workhorses last year, but haven't been put into regular rotation yet this year.  With the movement of the calendar from May to June, it seems summer is on us full force.  I've seen the thermometer in the car reach 100℉ (38℃) more than once in the last few days.  The time is right to pull these babies out and let them shine, again!

It was tempting to go with orange/yellow like my citrus brights outfit, but the pink/white/purple looked so cool and calm it really appealed to me.  I like that the all-seeing eye is orange, along with the orange pops in the handbag.  I purchased two of these blush pink Caslon tees last year from Nordstrom, and boy, they didn't hold up well.  They are now used as supplements only.  All of the other garments are from last summer except the handbag which is a couple years old.  The new pieces are my necklace, recently purchsased at Earthbound for about $3 and my Last Call Neiman Marcus butterfly earrings (currently $31.50)--which I think go perfectly with the flower theme!
