Truly, truly, I say to you, he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door but climbs in by another way, that is a thief and a robber..." John 10:1

Hey, friends!  This Simplicity 8636 Cynthia Rowley top is not what I was planning for today, but that's what makes life interesting, isn't it?  My last post was "Two-Piece Dress 5 Ways " today is "3 Ways..." hopefully, you'll get a few (maybe 8 haha!) good ideas to switch up your wardrobes this summer.

The Challenge
You saw this top in a recent Friday Favorites.  It's double layer gauze fabric, that I wasn't sure was the "best fit" for this particular pattern.  The fullness reminds me of so many Free People tops that are often voluminous, maybe that's what drew me to the pattern in the first place.  Either which way, it sure is comfortable for the heat.  Bring it on!

[Sewing notes:  The large was cut out per measurements, although, the medium would have worked.  The changes were a little bit looser elastic at the neckline and for this fabric, since it frayed so much, French seams were done for the bodice and piecing of the bottom ruffle.  Also, 3/4" was added to the bodice length, but was not necessary.]

The Details
Look #1 is with my fave jeans at the moment--the LOFT ones from eBay.  (Edited to add:  I've been saying these jeans are LOFT, they are NOT, they are New York & Co. Soho Cropped Boyfriends--so sorry for the mixup!!!)  Plus, blue and white is such a classic summer look.  And, may we address the accessories for a minute?  You wouldn't think the heavy necklace would work with the light-weight fabric, but adding visual weight with the leather cuff and sandals, balances everything out.  The texture of some of the beads, also picks up the woven espadrille look of the sandal soles.  I'd wear this look out for drinks and dinner, or brunch!

Look #2 was really a no-brainer pairing it with my camo skirt and would be perfect for doctor appointments (in my case) or other errands.  I decided to lighten up the necklace even though I added heavy blue sandals and the same leather cuff.

OUTFIT DETAILS
Cynthia Rowley top, handmade (similar) | Levi's denim shorts (similar) | Birkenstock Gizeh sandals | Chicos earrings (similar) | Alex & Ani bracelet (similar) | cabi necklace (similar)

A simple pair of denim shorts rounds us out for Look #3.  The accessories were simplified even more, with casual Birkenstocks, a small cabi key necklace and single Alex and Ani bracelet.  This would be a comfortable look for a backyard (or courtyard) picnic or for me to run over and see my girls.

The Takeaway
While a top like this may seem daunting or limiting to style, you can see I kept all of my bottoms streamlined.  (I'm sure someone, somewhere could wear it with full bottoms, but it probably won't be me!).  While you might be tempted to pass on a top like this, it really works for a lot of occasions.
