Alexander McQueen Skull Scarf Two Ways

The Challenge
Ya know, I got a "bug" to have an Alexander McQueen skull scarf this year.  This one was found on Poshmark
While it doesn't matter one whit if you decide to wear it for Halloween or not, it's still a little bit of fun to give a nod towards it.  Don't you think?

The Details
There were many color-variation choices, making it a little hard to select what I thought might work best, and "who knows?" maybe I'll decide to get another one at a later date.  While looking on Poshmark and eBay, I kept my price criteria to $120 max.  (I know you could get a better price than that if you shopped off season.)  I've been an eBay seller for years, so this seemed like a very low risk since it could be resold in the future.  I've been in the mood for reds lately, so opted for this version.  Plus, it's a ready-made "color clash."

The first variation uses my long, fringed orange cardigan, red tank top and raw-edge skinny jeans.  The scarf was looped around my neck.  I decided to wear my dark red sandals with this combination.  Also, the same earrings appear with both options, they are smaller than usual to stay out of the way of the scarf.  While I really like the outfit, it is quite warm, so I won't be wearing it out and about till it cools off considerably.

Variation No. 2 uses my Lucky Brand orange/rust sleeveless top that you've seen before here, red cardigan and boyfriend jeans.  The cardigan really needs to be replaced this season, but it will do for now.  I'm crazy about this option as the cardigan is lightweight and the scarf is just draped, making it cooler.  (I even look happier in this outfit in the photos--ha ha!)  The top has details to add some interest, as well.  The sandals were switched out to lighter orange ones which coordinate nicely with the top.  It makes it an easy-peasy outfit to wear out for a coffee date right now.  Pumpkin Spiced Latte, anyone?

The Takeaway
Know your preferences and go with them--if you get a "bug" that's not necessarily an on-trend piece, you can still make it a part of your personal style that will always look right.

  1. These colors are so terrific on you! What a great scarf and thanks for sharing all the tips. Poshmark can be a little overwhelming if you don't narrow your results somehow with filters. I'd say you got a wardrobe work horse in your Alexander McQueen Skull Scarf!
