Style Imitating Art (Roundup): Liberty Head by Peter Max

Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator.  Here there is not Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave, free; but Christ is all, and in all.  Col. 3:9-11

Welcome to the Style Imitating Art Roundup!  Style Imitating Art is hosted by me, Daenel~Living Outside the Stacks and Salazar~14 Shades of Grey.  Every two weeks, we select a piece of art.  After that, it is up to us (and you!) to make an outfit inspired by the artwork.  Let's see what today's participants have selected!

About Style Imitating Art
In addition to colors, you may also want to look at textures, mood, style, genre or contrasts.  There are no "wrong" outfits, and you don't need to be literal.

The Curator
This week's inspiration piece was curated by me.   Fierce Fashion Blog is where I like to add some refinement to edgier looks.  At least that's my goal!

The current art selection, Liberty Head by Peter Max.

The Co-Hosts

Salazar didn't have any of the brighter colors, so she chose other representative colors.  Her cute lace up shoes emulate Liberty Head's crown perfectly!  See Salazar's Liberty Head post.

Daenel grounded her look with black, then added orange, red, gray and white.  The florals and bright shoes hint at the playfulness of the artwork.

Submissions
We're so happy to have Mireille joining us for the first time (on the blog) today!  When Miereille saw the artwork, she thought her current outfit fit right in.   We do, too!  Miereille's full pants echo the artwork colors and she's the only one who added a rich, deep red.

Bev noticed the stripes in the artwork first, then the surrounding coral color, so selected these coordinating pants.  She then decided to pick up the predominant blue color with her shirt.  It's hard to see, but her necklace has spikes on it.  The last-minute, whimsical crown was left over from a King's cake.  When I opened Bev's email, her outfit put a smile on my face!  See her complete post.

Kezzie~KezzieAG
Kezzie embraced all the brights (a woman after my own heart!) and wore this beautiful dress, adding a vibrant turquoise cardigan.  Her necklace and bracelet both contain spikes--you ladies are so clever picking up the artwork that way.  I love her fun crown--every woman should have one, don't you think?

Mike embraced the red, white and blue elements, as well as, the square graphic image.  Captain America and Lady Liberty make a great pairing!

Nancy is back and she, too, is embracing the red, white and blue aspect of the artwork.  Nancy is wearing her favorite wrap style dress with an Americana-spirit denim jacket.  I love those espadrilles!

Jodie selected her outfit because, "the color in the inspiration photo just screamed bright and rainbowish to me...just like this dress!!"  These vibrant colors suit Jodie's outgoing personality perfectly!

My Look
Led Zeppelin Asian Tour t-shirt | Americana Eagle Tomgirl shorts (similar) | Comfortiva sandals (similar) | Kenneth Cole earrings (similar) | Bracelets (similarsimilar| Vince Camuto hat (similar) | Tie Dye bandana (similar)

My look picks up on the bright colors and square graphic.  A hat was added to represent the crown and the tie-dye bandana adds to the pop art feel.  For more details see my Peter Max, Andy Warhol and Rock 'n' Roll post.
